The girl’s dream is shattered; her glistening and promising future is fading out. Her eyes appear lifeless and indeed she is hopeless. She is subjected to prison of suffering, misery and slowly losing her grip on life’s purpose. The drastic increase in teenage pregnancies has been an alarming subject in the country before and after the closure of schools as a result of the COVID -19 pandemic.

The Great concerns have been raised on the issue, much has been said, fingers pointed and blames laid on particular individuals especially the parents.  It’s not something new, we have been witnessing it in the past but that doesn’t mean we assume it’s something normal. We have to take an effective action to save the girl. Let’s practice the principle of collective responsibility and inculcate morals to our teenagers.

Women Empowerment;

Supporting women in business goes in hand with supporting the girl child, empowering and nourishing her as well as building her self- esteem to unsurpassed level and be in a position to achieve her dreams.

Fostering her growth will enable her to overcome the challenges she is facing in the society that are diminishing her value.

Some of the challenges are;

  • The early pregnancies

  • Early marriages

  • Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

  • Poverty

  • Gender-Based Violence

  • Drug Abuse and Addiction

Parent-Child Relationship

It is an obligation for both parents to raise their children in a responsible way, Have an involving communication with them, Create time for them and consistently offer guidance.

Showing them love will also enable them to feel appreciated and valued. Parents should also be friendly and approachable so that their children will feel comfortable to talk to them and raise concerns.

Being a role model is of great importance for the growth of a child.

Children emulate what the parents are practising and hence parents should practice what they preach.

Sex education should also be introduced to children at an early age.

Educating them on topics pertaining to growth and sexual behaviours in a non-judgmental and unbiased way will help them understand who they are and the changes they are likely to experience as they grow.

As the society, we should raise awareness of the sex activities and other factors such as drug abuse that leads to early pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.

It is our responsibility to educate our children on the effects and the repercussions as well as ways of living a pure and healthy life.

The Future;

Saving the future implies to looking forward to a sustainable future free from human suffering and abject poverty. We can achieve this by redeeming the girl’s value and helping her fight the challenges that are hindering her from pursuing her goals.

the Poverty has been a key factor contributing to rise in teenage pregnancies and early marriages.

Poverty has led teenagers to indulge in promiscuous behaviour in the aim of earning a living to sustain life.

On the other hand, Poverty has also forced some parents to give away their daughters for marriages at an early age as a result of greed for money.

Poverty will continue to blossom unless we rise and fight hard to save our teenagers.

Let’s implement effective actions to help restore the morals of our teenagers.

Let’s help them find purpose in life and fight their way out of despair.

Let's step forward and Teach them the virtues of patience and contentment that are indispensable in today’s world.
